Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of using VR devices on eye movement and binocular vision in physical education students.

Methods : 25 students (14 males, 11 females) with no history of refractive surgery, history of ocular diseases, and binocular vision abnormalities (orthophoria: 7 ¥Ä or less in exophoria, 1.5 ¥Ä or less in esophoria), focusing on healthy college students with physical education, average age 21.4¡¾2.3 years were selected as study subjects. The examiner instructed the subject to watch contents (VR outdoor tour contents) for 30 minutes and then performed a refraction test, static visual acuity measurement, eye movement test, and binocular visual function test.

Results : The corrected visual acuity before and after VR viewing was 0.96¡¾0.28 (Decimal V.A.) and 0.95¡¾0.31 (Decimal V.A.), with no significant change, but the horizontal phoria increased from ?5.74¡¾2.47 ¥Ä (exo.) to -10.69 ¡¾ 3.90 ¥Ä (exo.) in exophoria (p<0.050). There was a statistically significant change as the amount increased. Other test items that showed the greatest change in binocular vision function were accommodation (at 40 cm) and accommodation facility. The near point of accommodation before watching VR was 12.54¡¾1.40 cm to 15.19¡¾2.22 cm and the accommodation facility. decreased from 11.15¡¾1.78 times to 6.02¡¾2.16 cpm.

Conclusion : After watching VR, there was no noticeable decrease in visual acuity and no change in visual function, but significant changes were confirmed in the heterophoria, near point of accommodation and accommodation facility.
